Early Engineer (NYC, NY)

Roles and Responsibilities

Troops is looking for a seasoned and passionate world-class developer to assume a key role on our engineering team. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial self-starter, excited to work on a small collaborative team, passionate about clean and maintainable code, has a proven track record of designing scalable applications, strong understanding of DevOps, zero-downtime deployment procedures, and relational and no-SQL databases. Knowledge or desire to learn Scala or prior experience with other functional languages is a huge plus. If you lead by example, demonstrate excellence and constant desire to learn and are excited to solve tough challenges while having a lot of fun with your co-workers, we want to hear from you! This position is full-time and based on-site in New York City.

Qualifications and Experience
  • BS, MS or Ph.D in Computer Science, Math or other closely related degree
  • 5-10 Years of experience building scalable software for the web in Scala, Java, Clojure, Haskell, C# C++ or similar
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, ReactJS or other front end technologies
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, go-getter attitude and hunger to “go big”
  • Exceptional understanding of web technologies, REST APIs, concurrency and system architecture

Customer Marketing (NYC, NY)

Roles and Responsibilities

Troops is looking for a customer-driven, content champion. We have a massive audience of companies using our product and we want someone to help build out initiatives that foster customer retention, advocacy, growth, and community around our users. In short, the work you do will help drive why our users love the Troops brand, product, and people.

This represents a very unique opportunity for someone to blaze new trails and make a name for themselves. For the first time ever, enterprise messaging platforms like Slack are being adopted and deployed by companies all over the world at an incredible speed. Troops has a front row seat to building the most powerful applications on this platform and others like it. We have a unique opportunity to go 1 to many inside an organization, and have direct communication with customers in this medium.

We’re excited about someone who is okay with the fact that a lot of this has never been done before and wants to help us figure this out.

You’ll be given ownership and autonomy and it is our hope is that you bring creative ideas to the table to help shape, refine, and perfect our process of making customers successful. The sky's the limit for growth from within the company and if you are successful, 10’s of thousands of companies will have changed the way they work over the next year due to your efforts.

You will do things like:
  • Define key customer communication initiatives with clear success metrics to increase customer engagement, product usage, and value.
  • Develop, champion and launch customer marketing campaigns across key journeys and touchpoints to drive customer engagement and value.
  • Test and optimize targeted, brand-driven content and treatments for key segments and deliver across appropriate communication channels for a cohesive experience.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales and Product to plan, launch and report on campaigns.
  • Develop metrics reporting and dashboards to track campaign performance and measure impact on business results; share with key partners (sales, product management, etc.) to communicate marketing effectiveness.

Troops is looking for an all-star who can help make our existing customers wildly successful and evangelists of Troops. We believe that the most important channel to grow your business is to make your existing customers successful which is why we are laser focused on this at Troops!

This represents a very unique opportunity for someone to blaze new trails and make a name for themselves. For the first time ever, enterprise messaging platforms like Slack are being adopted and deployed by companies all over the world at an incredible speed. Troops has a front row seat to building the most powerful applications on this platform and others like it. We have a unique opportunity to go 1 to many inside an organization, and have direct communication with customers in this medium.

The ideal candidate has a unique blend of grit, raw intellectual horsepower, and empathy. We’ll need to you to do many things at this stage of the business which include things like being on the front lines with customers to solve their problems, to creating collateral and programs that enhance the customer experience.
